ANNIE'S BRASSICA

Annie was a newcomer to the world of bicycles and all things on two wheels, and at 5ft 1in / 155cm, finding a bike that was going to fit well was always going to be challenging. Annie hadn't had the chance to learn to ride as a child, and all the bikes that she had attempted to ride since then were just two big, making the whole bike-riding learning process much more difficult. Luckily for Annie, she is my girlfriend, so naturally I saw her need for a properly fitted bike as a chance to prototype my new Brassica model.   A stable, low BB for a planted ride, and a low stand-over height inspire a bit of confidence, plus a 3 x 9 drivetrain provides massive range with durability that will survive nuclear Armageddon and not cost a million to service. The frame is made from Reynolds 631 and features a chainstay yoke designed by James from Creature Cycles.

As mentioned on the Brassica model page, this particular example managed to pick up the award for 'Best in Show' at the 2026 UK Bespoked show in London. Annie is one for personalising things, if there's a chance to make something unique, she'll do it. You can see on her bike here all the little details she added, registration plate, smiley face crank bolt caps, Lego head dust caps, and plethora of other little touches. Annie's eye for colour choices also shines through, with that soothing pastel green and rich sea grey, all pulled together with the colour matched stem and deep red lettering and lug lining.
